Tournament Time for Windows Help File
Advancing Pool Winners
Don't worry: Tournament Time provides extensive feedback to help you understand how your teams rank in each pool.
When calculating advancement, one pool is processed at a time, and only those pools which have completed all their games are considered for advancement.
After TT evaluates each pool, it shows you the prospective placements and the supporting statistics:
Points - Calculated according to Division rules.
Win % - Calculated Win Percentage .
( = #wins / #games played )
H2H - In the event of a tie, this is the number of times this team won against the team it is tied with.
For - This is the total game points (not standing points) "For" this team.
Aga - This is the total game points "Against" this team.
Diff - Calculated Goal Differential. This is the total for this team of "For"-"Aga" in each game, with no more than "Max Goals per Game" being accrued for each game, if a number was specified for "Max Goals per Game" in Division rules.
GoalsA - Goals Allowed. This statistic will be supported in a future version.
After making any desired changes to the rankings, press Enter continues the process - TT will bring up the modified list with the new order for your confirmation.
Pressing ESCape gives opportunity for skipping the advancement of any particular pool. If you skip, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO VIEW THE LOG!
Once the advancement has been accomplished, you will have opportunity to view the LOG.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you review this (by choosing "Yes") and print it immediately, since you WILL NOT have another opportunity to do so. The log documents each step of the advancement process, as well as the positions that each team advanced into. (This is especially important if you must adjust any team's advancement, because Tournament Time cannot automatically undo the advancements that were made)
You will still get a chance to view this log even if you told Tournament Time "No" each time it asked to advance the teams in a pool; however, you will not see the log until all the games in a pool are completed or forfeited.
Advancements of teams are made only in the current schedule. For Multi-Level and other similar tournaments (having more than one bracket), advancements in rounds other than the winner's round must be made by hand; This Log is VERY useful in these cases. See "How do I..." for more information.
(NOTE: this does not apply to double-elimination tournaments...in this case, the loser's round is contained in the same schedule file as the winner's round)
Pseudo-Teams having the following Mnemonic format will be replaced with the appropriately placing team from the corresponding pool:
"Pool XX - XXst Place"
^----^----- these are always two digits
For advancement to be accomplished, the division which created the schedule MUST still exist, and the pools must have the proper teams in them. You may change the "Point Standings" values and the "Tie-Breaking" rules using division edit. Any such changes WILL be used in calculating standings, HOWEVER, any advancements made before changing the rules WILL NOT change.
