(def) Loss

Loss -- The team with fewer points at the end of a game is usually the loser.

This isn't necessarily the case however: If one of the teams committed a serious offense, the game may end in forfeit with the non-offending team the winner. In this case, usually the offending team's score is recorded as 0, regardless of how many points they actually scored.
