Tournament Time for Windows Help File

(def) "IF" Game

"IF" Game -- In a double elimination tournament, the winner of the winner's bracket must play against the winner of the loser's bracket. If the loser's bracket winner happens to win this game, then both teams will have lost just one game: There is no undefeated winner. Then, a second game between these two teams determines the final tournament winner.

On the other hand, if the winner's bracket winner beats the loser's bracket winner, that team remains undefeated: There is no need for the "IF" game to be played.
