Making Substitutions

Substitutions

Substitutions may be made at almost any point during a game. To initiate, simply click on the 'Subst' button on the main screen. This will bring up the Substitutions window... which looks very similar to the Roster window. You may now edit any player's batting or fielding position, name, jersey number, and description. To bring a player into the game change their batting and fielding positions from 0 to the desired number, to take a player out change their positions to 0.

The 'Team' and 'Sort' menu items are provided to view the desired team roster in an easy to understand order.

When finished with the Substitution window choose the 'Exit' menu item or press 'Enter'. Scorebook will verify the new roster and will not allow continuation if there are omissions or duplications in the roster.

NOTE: Substitutions may only be made for the current time of the game. For example, if you missed a pitching change in the 3rd inning and it is now the 5th inning you cannot insert the substitution into the 3rd inning. The proper way to handle this problem would be to make the sub immediately, note that the sub should have occurred in the 3rd inning (use the 'Game\Comments' menu item), and go on to complete the game. After finalizing the game, print the play log and use the report to figure out what stats (pitches, batters, runs, etc.) were attributed to the wrong pitcher. Then go into the game stats and change the appropriate stats for the two pitchers.

After making this error once, you will be much more observant to catch all substitutions at their proper time in future games!
