Starting a Game

Starting a Game

To begin scoring a game, choose the 'Game\Search...' menu item from the main window. If the game you wish to score is not visible then modify the sort options. If it still cannot be found then go back to the Game Information window and make certain that the game has been entered.

Once the game has been located in the Game Search window double-click on it. This will close the window and set the selected game as the "Current" game. The team names are displayed in the scoreboard at the top of the window. Fielding positions, batting positions, pitching game stats, and the game play log may be displayed by toggling the four options behind the 'Window' menu item.

To begin play, choose the 'Game\Start' menu item. At this point, Scorebook verifies that each team has a complete roster. If you receive a warning stating that there are batting or fielding position omissions or conflicts, you must correct them before play may begin. To correct the rosters click on the 'Team' menu item then choose the team that must be corrected. This will take you directly to that team's roster where the changes may be made and saved. Return to the main screen and choose the 'Game\Start' menu item once again.

Once the game is successfully started the defensive players are shown in their proper positions. Pointing at them with the mouse will reveal their names at the bottom of the screen. Also, the first batter is placed in the on-deck circle.

NOTE: The 'Game\Start' menu item is only used to start a game that has a status 'Sched'. If the game has a status of 'In Prog' then this step is not required.

"I used to dread little league season, with all the hours of paperwork. Trying to schedule all the teams, registering and keeping track of all the players was an absolute nightmare. Your software was an answer to my prayers!
