Registration Fees

LAS has a very flexible and capable way of managing registration fees, which can greatly simplify the registration process.

As an overview, this is the way registration fees work:

Before registration starts
- Create all your divisions (levels) using [ Miscellaneous -> Divisions ]
- For each division, specify the Age range and the Registration fees for this division.
- Set up your fee discounts in [ File -> Utilities -> Setup -> Season ] in the fields next to "Registration Fee Discounts"
During Registration
- Create a new registration using [ Personnel -> Registration ] (click "New")
- Type in the information about the player
- After you have entered the player's birth date, (and other intervening info), just tab through the "New Div" field; LAS will find the first division that this player fits into (according to the player's age, and any other criteria specified in the division information, such as the weight ranges for football).
- ( If you want to specify a different division, pick that division before tabbing through the "New Div" field; The following logic only works the first time. )
- LAS now looks up the division record for "New Div" and puts the fee for the division into the Player's "Amt Due" field.
- If this family already has other children who are registered, then LAS looks up the appropriate "Registration Fee Discounts" for this season, and subtracts the proper value from the total amount due for the member family by adding the value as a negative in the member's "Amt Adj".
- Then, LAS adds up all the "Amt Due"s from all children in the family, adds in the value from the family's "Amt Adj", then shows the total dues for the family in the read only field "Due:".
- When payment is received, type in the amount received in the field "Amt Pd". The calculated remaining balance for the family will be shown in the read only field "Owed:". You can type any comments about the payment in the "Pay Meth" field.

The process for the Fundraising Amount is identical, only use the fields labeled "Funds".

Answers to common questions about Registration Fees:

Can I change the "Amt Due" for a player? Certainly! The Dues for a family are always calculated from the total "Amt Due" for all registered children in the family; whatever might have been auto-filled in is not important, only the current value in the "Amt Due" for each child.
Do I have to use the "Amt Due" on each Player? No! You can make LAS work the same as it has in the past (that is, having a single "Amt Due" for each member, and nothing more) by going to [ File -> Utilities -> Setup -> Season ], clicking "Edit" then putting a "N" next to the "Amt Due" on the "Player Registration Configuration" window.
What does "Amt Adj" mean? This value is the adjustment (usually because of discounts) that is made to the total of all the "Amt Due"s from all the registered players in a particular family. If this adjustment is a Discount, then the value should be negative. You could add into this "adjustment" field any other related fees for the family.
