Division Settings

This screen allows you to enter all the details about each division.

The following fields may by included in division definitions.

Name - The division name, limited to 5 characters.

Sex - Enter the permitted sex of players for this division. Spacebar to choose.

Dues - The normal fee for players in this division. This is used during registration to set the member amount due when a player is registered and the member amount due is 0. Note, when registering a sibling, the amount due for the sibling must be ADDED to the current amount due in the member portion of the record.

Carry Forward - This sets up LAS for follow-on years. It controls the start new season to keep players and staff on the same teams from year to year. If teams are completely disolved at the end of each season, set this to No.

Division Code - This can be controlled on the season setup screen by setting the value for "Division Label". If your organization does not define a "Code" for your divisions, leave the division label blank. If you type a label, that label will appear here on the division update screen. This allows you to establish a standard "Level of Play" for each division. For example, Little League defines the level of play starting in 1999 as follows:

Description Baseball Girls Softball Boys Softball Age Range
Tee Ball 11 21 31 5-8
Minor League 12 22 32 7-12
Little League (aka "Major Division") 13 23 33 9-12
Junior League 17 27 N/A 13-14
Senior League 15 25 35 14-16
Big League 16 26 36 16-18
Challenger 18s N/A N/A 5-18
Soccer programs use the "Under xx" designation for level of play. Use the age to designate the level.

The structure for Tournament Play is:

Description Age Range
9-10 Year Old Division 9-10
11-Year Old Division 11
Little League Division 11-12
Junior League Division 12-13-14
Senior League Division 14-15-16
Big League Division 16-17-18

Birth Month, Day - This defines the cutoff month and day for calculating players' ages. You can also set whether 12/31 is treated specially. See Birthday Cutoff for more details on how ages are calculated.

Age - The youngest and oldest players eligible for this division. LAS assumes that there will be exceptions and can handle players one year older or younger. Other ages are considered invalid but your circumstances may require occasional players that don't conform.

Grade - If you divide players up by grade rather than age, leave the age fields 0 and enter the grade limits for each division. This is configurable in LAS Complete.

Weight - Used mostly by football programs. It is the player weights that are allowed for the given ages. This is configurable in LAS Complete.

Game Length, Practice Length: These are used in the Schedule section of LAS for evaluating game overlap.

The last items are user defined fields set up in the season setup screen (in the Complete LAS version). If you have defined special fields, you may include specific ranges of these fields for selecting a player for each division.
