League Web Manager Help File

Simple and Cheap

Basically, maintain your own registration form, recieve the results via email, and merge them into LAS.
  • Use your own web server -- There are free webservers available on the internet, so this doesn't have to cost anything. If you want control over the advertising on your website (or to eliminate the advertising), you would have to pay something for the Web Host. However, you're dial-up Internet Service Provider probably already offers you at least 10MB of storage for your own web page, and this is certainly more than enough for a League web site.

You get complete control over the web site, and can have just a simple registration page, or as complicated a web site as you wish. You can even associate your own domain name with your web site!

  • Automatic or Manual integration into LAS -- The Registration forms that LWM can generate for you are simple and complete. They can be configured to email the results to any email address, and can format the results as plain text (which would then have to be read by a human registrar and manually entered into LAS), or in Golden Retriever format, which can be automatically interpreted and entered into the LAS database.

If you plan on using Automatic integration with LAS, you should obtain a POP3 email account to use ONLY for receiving the Golden Retriever format email registrations.

  • Payment by a Check in the Mail -- This is the simplest payment method. You simply include instructions on the registration form directing the registrant to mail a check for a specific amount to a particular address. You can explain, too, that different divisions have different fees, etc.

However, this method has all the drawbacks of "the check is in the mail":

    1. The registrant may forget to mail the check.
    2. The registration amount is not automatically calculated for them.
    3. When the registration email is received, the payment probably has not yet arrived, and so each registration record must be visited twice in LAS: once to enter it (which may happen automatically), and once to mark it as paid.
    4. If a check bounces, further action must be taken by the registrar.

  • Payment by local (non-automatic) Credit Card processing -- This is a possible method to allow players to register without having to mail in a check, but it requires that the League have a Credit Card processing Merchant Account. The credit card information could be sent as part of the registration form, or could be faxed to the However, while more convenient for the registrants, this method still has most of the drawbacks of "the check is in the mail":
    1. The registrant may forget to fax the CC information.
    2. The registration amount is not automatically calculated for them.
    3. When the registration email is received, the payment may not have arrived, and so some registration records must be visited twice in LAS: once to enter it (which may happen automatically), and once to mark it as paid.
    4. Credit Card transactions often are rejected because of over-drawn accounts, in which cases, further action must be taken by the registrar.
    5. The league would need to have their own credit card merchant account.

Overall, this is a quick and easy way for a league to setup their own on-line registration website.

"I used to dread little league season, with all the hours of paperwork. Trying to schedule all the teams, registering and keeping track of all the players was an absolute nightmare. Your software was an answer to my prayers!
