Maintain your own web registration form, open an online credit card merchant account, accept credit cards and electronic checks online, receive the results via email and integrated them into LAS.
Use your own web server -- There are free webservers available on the internet, so this doesn't have to cost anything. If you want control over the advertising on your website (or to eliminate the advertising), you would have to pay something for the Web Host. However, you're dial-up Internet Service Provider probably already offers you at least 10MB of storage for your own web page, and this is certainly more than enough for a League web site.
You get complete control over the web site, and can have just a simple registration page, or as complicated a web site as you wish. You can even associate your own domain name with your web site!
Automatic or Manual integration into LAS -- The Registration forms that LWM generates for you are simple and complete. They can be configured to email the results to any email address, and format the results as plain text (which would then have to be read by a human registrar and manually entered into LAS), or in Golden Retriever format, which can be automatically interpreted and entered into the LAS database.
If you plan on using Automatic integration with LAS, you should obtain a POP3 email account to use ONLY for receiving the Golden Retriever format email registrations.
Automatic Payment Online by Credit Card or by Electronic Check (ACH) directly into your own Merchant CC Account, with a minimal fee per transaction.
Automatic Credit Card processing online -- Your members can have immediate confirmation that their credit card transaction has completed. This requires that your league sign up with TangiblePayments for an online Credit Card Merchant Account.
Automatic ACH processing online -- You can support ACH electronic checks using the same online Merchant Account from TangiblePayments, so that any of your members who don't have credit cards can still register online.
Minimal Fees Per Transaction -- While you can never altogether avoid credit card transaction fees, with this strategy your fees are minimal:
No Refused Transactions -- If a member's ACH bounces, or their Credit Card is overdrawn, the registration process lets them know... so that YOU don't have to deal with it after you've merged them into the LAS database.
Payment by U.S.Mailed Check -- You can include this as an option, if you desire, though it still has "the check is in the mail" limitations
This truly is the way to go if you want complete control over your website.
