Setting up the Primary and Satellites

In using merge, all the computers must have LAS installed in order to enter the registration data.

One computer is selected to be the "Primary" database. This computer needs to have the Merge plug-in installed. All The other computers are "Satellite" computers..They are primarily used for entering data, which is then brought to, and merged into, the Primary database.

Before setting up your satellite computers, you should enter your divisions, teams and cities into the primary database so that everyone is consitent on the spelling of these names. Just imagine how annoying it is to have one person using the division "Majors", another using "Maj" and a third using "Major"!! You can avoid such confusion (and wasted time in correcting) by entering these first at the primary.

Now, create a backup of the primary database (using [Main Menu ® Utilities ® Backup & Restore ® Backup]). Take this backup to each of the Satellite computers. First install LAS on each Satellite computer, then restore from this backup. This way, all your computers will start with the same League Structure. (If this is not the first season you are using LAS, the satellites will also have the record of last year's registrants, greatly simplifying the job of re-registering returning players)
