Home Team (def)
This team traditionally is playing on their own field or venue, that is, on the field they are used to practicing on. Since they are used to that field, they are said to have the "Home Field Advantage" against the Visitor team whose players aren't so familiar with the field. However, when teams are sharing fields and playing each other, the Home or visitor designation is often purely arbitrary and is only used for scoring purposes.
